Courage in Recovery
I have learned that recovery from addiction is not just freedom from the fear that once gripped my heart and governed my soul, but it is also about gaining new strength and power. Power that flows from new found courage and confidence as I confront and face my fears in which I am able to tell myself, “I have lived through this horror, survived and can face the next challenge that comes along.”
Today I know that I MUST do the things I THINK I cannot do because I have embraced, through recovery, the knowledge and promise that it is not what you go through that defines you. It's what you do AFTER you've gone through it that really tests who you are.
